Watch Words

Thank you, God

for all You have given me;

for all You have saved me from;

for all I am because of You.

Wisdom and Understanding

Lord, grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change,

to change the things that I can, and,

the wisdom to know the difference.

First Blog Giveaway

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my "First Blog Giveaway."  A Summer one!

Theme:  "We cannot control the wind, but we can adjust our sails".

Okay sometime ago, I wrote about "Random Act of Intention" and although I've had good intentions to have done a giveaway much earlier than now, I too had to adjust my sails.

I started the same saying for myself, with a slight twist; and of course life gave me a slight turn on it, and never finished it, but do plan to go back to it.

I, however, got this one done to give away.

I hope you all like it, or perhaps you can win it for someone that could use it.  It can have so many meanings.

In the photo below are the items I have included in this "Summer" giveaway:

The crosstitch, finished as a flat fold

The crosstitch (back)

This little wooden sailboat.  (sorry 'bout the fuzzy photo)

A small gift bag made by me.

Three fat quarters.

and a semi-handmade card.

This giveaway will close on July 15, 2010 and I make the announcement of the winner on July 16, 2010, via your email and my blog.

Everyone and anyone is welcomed to this drawing.  You may invite your friends if you would like.  I will ship overseas if need be.  You may follow if you would like.  You may not follow if you would not like.  All thread and fabric lovers are all invited.  It is my hope to do more giveaways.

My only stipulation is that you would make a comment, perhaps about the saying, to this post and leave your email to contact you.

I hope you all "enJoi".

Always.
Jackie

Hi Jackie, right here at my bd time too. Given what's been going on in my life here the saying is very real to me. We can't control the wind which I see as our circumstances with the cancer & chemo. But we can adjust the way we accept what's happening and look for God and His glory in the midst of it.
A most beautiful set of stuff you're giving away, you are too generous, dear stitching friend.

What a great idea! I know this saying from a long time ago, but like many important things in life, I had forgotten about it. You have put it together so nicely! The Lord is a great providor of wind in our sails, too bad I forget that too often as well! Happy blogging!

What a wonderful giveaway. You have put in a lot of time making the cross stitch saying and the tote bag. I love the saying on the cross stich piece. Sail boats and light houses are some of my favorite motifs. Would love to win your giveaway. Thanks for being so generous and sweet.

I have never heard that saying, but I love it! I will be sharing it with a few of my friends this week as it goes right along with the book study that we are in the middle of. It fits in quite nicely with the serenity prayer that you have at the top of your blog. That is a little prayer that I say to myself when I feel that things are out of control.

Thank you so much for your generousity!

Jackie,
What a wonderful give away. I would especially love to win the cross stitch. I love the saying, and it is so true! If I don't win, could you send me the pattern info, so that I might make one myself? Your entire give away is wonderful -- so coordinated.

Please add my name to your giveaway. That little stitched piece would be perfect for my daughter. She has a tendency to get overwhelmed by the world around her at times. I would love to stitch it for her. Can you tell me where it's from? Thanks!

Jackie, it's a lovely giveaway, and I'd be happy to win it. But I'm happier to have read the phrase--it applies to so much that is going on in my life right now--so in some ways I feel as if I've already won!

Thank you. I'm printing out the saying to carry with me as I go through these somewhat trying times.

What a beautiful collection/giveaway!

I love the saying..as a "control freak" I have to remind myself sometimes that what I really need to control is how I react to things...not the things themselves.

Jackie, what a beautiful, summery giveaway. Please include me.
I love the saying about adjusting our sails. Everyday to some degree this must be done. The Lord leads us in mysterious ways as does the wind. Thank you for sharing.

I just finished reading "Blue Water" and your giveaway sure reminds me of the book. What a great giveaway! Nice that you are opening it to everyone.
There are things in life we can't control, but we can adjust our thoughts and actions to deal with them. That's what came to mind when I read the quote about the wind. diana.h@comcast.net

Thank you Jackie, I found you on the Small Quilt group at just the right time. I had never heard of this saying before but I am touched by it and must remind myself of it daily. You are a blessing and I am so glad that I have found you. Your give away is so very thoughtful and lovely. Could I buy a copy of your 'recipe' for life to make? Thank you so much for your inspiration. Many blessings to you and yours.

After entering your contest last night, I went to bed thinking about the saying that you stitched, which led me to the song lyrics "Sometimes He calms the storm; some times He calms His child." I think we need to remember both of these thoughts more often, so thanks for jogging my memory!
