Happy New Year

Dear FOST.
Happy New Year to all of you and "Welcome, welcome" to my friends who have just come aboard.  I hope you all have had some time to look around and see something ya like.

I trust you all had a Merry and beautiful Christmas among family and friends and certainly one that will forever give you lots of memories (smile).

I have updated my blog (on the side bar) with a few things I hope to work on in the coming year.  It is quite lengthy, and quite ambitious too, if I may say so.  LOL.  Well, at least there is a plan in place.

and, in the center of my background are two timeless sayings I hold near and dear to my heart and I wanted to share these with you because this is who I am and oh yes! with a big 'ole sense of humor and a hearty laugh.

Okay!  Here is what had been keeping me busy.  I started this the day after Christmas.  I was thinking "New begininings" for the New Year.  Like when God created the heaven and the earth... "New".
I had this one kitted up since October when I was getting my thoughts together for 2010 and this is one that made the list.  It has been in my stash for a while.

Praying Hands, Patchwork Samplers, (12 Designs Inspired By Scripture) Garden of Eden
28 ct Antique White, hand dyed, with said DMC threads and a few changes in threads

The words (will) read: ...And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden. Gen 2:8.

I didn't get to post this one before Christmas.  I posted a picture in an earlier posting and made mention that it was a gift.  Well here is the finished product.  I gave this one to my friend Dee.
Dee takes care of my little one when I have an appointment and when I go to my guild meetings, day or night.  She is very kind hearted, soft spoken, and a very giving person.  Her house is where all the neighborhood kids gather and never ever ask for a penny.  The sad thing about this is no one does anything nice for this lady. So I decided to make this one for her along with one of my hand made cards; and, I tell ya, I tell ya, she was sooo appreciative of this small gift and I was so glad she liked it that much.  You know how we do Random Act of Kindness (RAK).  I'd like to call these Random Act of Intention (RAI).  It makes the world a better place to live.

Now speaking of intentions.  I intend to do some RAI Giveaway(s) in 2010, if I ever figure out how to do one.  It took me a while to figure out this blog stuff to get it to this point so I'm sure I'll figure it out.

This one was completed as Christmas approached.  No finishing as yet.

Here are two snaps of our snow here is the desert, about 3 or 4 days ago.  A rare scenery in the sun city.

There are mountains back there. (somewhere)

I believe the most we had was about 2.5 inches and while I was out snapping these, I could hear some children laughing and playing in it.  How cool.

Okay Lastly.  If there are any praying souls out there,  I am asking you to say a prayer for Joy The Busy Stitchers Babble and her family.  Joy and I did the LHN Pumpkins 4 Sale SAL back in September and we became online friends through these threads.  Her Dad had taken ill earlier in the year and is doing a little better.  Her FIL has also since taken ill.  So I am asking you all to say a prayer for her and family.

I wish you all a safe and blessed New Year and I hope we will get to know each other a bit better in coming year.

May this next year bring Peace unto you.
Bless you all.

First day of Winter

Okay, Here we go FOST!
Since my last post, here is "what happened".  Before I went to visit my in laws in Oklahoma where the weather was frigid, (20 to 30 degree temp. each morning), we had a power outage here, therefore I could not do a post.  Since my return, I have been running, running, running.
So let me see if I can pickup where I left off.  Heidi at All My Scattering Moments blog ornaments (see Peace ornament for link).  6 of the 12 done.  Here are the last 5 of the 6.  Let me begin with this one since today is the...

Okay, well, I won't post anymore today.  I've got to go get on Christmas cards.  Once I am done with those, hopefully I will have something else to post.

So until then, I hope you all like the ornaments and I hope Heidi who designed these are as pleased with them also.

Until then, "Enjoi".

Got a finish

All right!  I got a finish done.  Heidi at All My Scattering Moments blog designed this Peace christmas ornament (among some others).  They are quick to stitch.  Unfortunately, I only got six of them done though.  So here is one finished.  Not quite an ornament size.  I like fabric, therefore, I allowed the fabric to dictate the finished size.

I hope to post the others as I get them finished.  In the meantime,
Please enjoi.

Last order for the year

Here she is.  Part of my  last order for the year  The Making of an American Sampler "272 Words".  This is an absolutely beautiful sampler.  I was happy when Elizabeth Gorski decided to make this into a chart.  Go check out her blog and read about her post while making the sampler.

Leave a comment.  I am sure she would love to hear your thoughts on this beauty.

Welcome December

Well hello FOST,
How have you all been?  I hope December have greeted you all with some snow as it did here in Sun City, Texas.  What a beautiful sight it was.  I stayed inside and enjoyed it.

So what have I been doing since my last post?

First, let me say I learned a thing or two about blogging. You can go read it for yourself at  The Pickled Pepper Patch.  Needless to say,  I am applying what I've learned.  I left a comment that I thought I died and went to heaven in that I was looking for a how to bloggy thing.  Believe I reached the Complaint Department.  The other thing I've learned is that everyone just does not share your humor.  Oh well, such as life.

Yesterday I went out and purchased a christmas tree, came home, and my girls and I decorated it.  Here is a snippet of the tree which I also used as my banner.  I think it is in keeping with the blog background.

Since my last post, I've joined an online quilting group, Small Quilt Talk.  This group share the making of their small quilts.
Currently, we are having a Prairie Quilt Challenge. The challenge is to make all the quilts in the book, Prairie Children and Their Quilts. I've signed on to make Bear Paw's Quilt, however, more than one person can make the same quilt.
You may read more about it The Sentimental Quilter's blog.   Below is a photo of my imperfect doll quilt I made from the book, American Doll Quilts.

Also, I recently made this one, (this is not one in the book) and did not get it finished.  It was to be coupled with the LHN Pumpkins 4 sale. I made it using the fabrics I used to finish Pumpkins 4 sale.

I've mostly done bed size and wall size wall hanging quilts and like the smaller and miniature quilts too.  So I am sure you will be seeing more of the smaller quilts here.

On to crosstitch stuff.

My Prairie Schooler ABC order for the SAL came in except one pattern which is on back order.

Prairie Schooler ABC (Alphabet)

While I was onto a Prairie Schooler roll, I thought I would kit this one up also which have been in my Le'stash for some time now.

Prairie Schooler Christmas Alphabet

Speaking of Le'Stash, I pulled this one out also. Not a pretty picture while in progress.

Prairie Schooler, Prairie Seasons, Winter

Okay, back to LHN Fa la la.  Here is my progress.  This should have been done by now, but...  It's getting there.  I guess you could say my carolers sang in the evening.  This is my interpretation of carolers; what I remembered as a child.

Next, I have Shepherd's Bush, Earth Gatherer.  My friend Mary and I started this and thought we would do kind of a SAL.  I believe she stitched and I watched along (WAL).  I would sure like to finish this one.  This is why I am posting it here.  Maybe I can squeeeze some time in to get it finished.

Next is a photo of an ornament I just finished stitching this morning.  It is a gift for someone.

JCS Magazine 2006, Raise the RoofDesigns, Arm and a leg (with some changes)

Well.  This is all for now with the hope of getting something finished.  I had another project I was working on, Sew Noel. It was not a very good picture, so I did not post it.  Perhaps on my next post.

Until next time, be blessed and kind regards.
